Cat6 is popular as it allows for the maximum life span and return on investment. It also allows for less repeat transmissions and network downtime. New developments in cabling now allow for Cat6a and even Cat7 cables.

Fibre Optic
Fibre optic cables are mainly used for interlinking data cabling networks, allowing massive amounts of data to move incredibly quickly. Fibre Optic cores can transmit more data bandwidth than copper cabling.

Fibre backbones are generally installed between communications rooms and cabinets to help handle the traffic load between these locations. They can also be used where Cat5e and Cat6 copper cables are above 100m.

Multimode is the most common fibre application, which can provide 10 Gigabit speeds. However, Singlemode fibre can be run to achieve longer distances and allow for more bandwidth hungry applications. We can advise on which fibre application is most appropriate for your business requirements.
